I don’t think I’m unlike most women when I meet the daily dawn and start my morning routine:
wake up before the sun. stumble to the kitchen. sleepily remove the espresso pod from its packaging. add morning fix to stainless steel deliverer of ecstasy. start to awaken to intoxicating aroma.
yoga. prep. primp. violently tear myself out of my morning splendor when I realize that I’m late for a morning meeting/interview/ model fitting/phone call to some place we wish I were.
“Morning Scenarios” - are experiences that came to mind as my fingers turned the glossy pages of the January/February issues of Vanity Fair, Elle Decor, Inc. Metropolitan Home and W.
I’m not reading for anything specific, I am looking at consumer trends, what’s hot now, monitoring politics and how the economic state is impacting our country. But I’m seeking something else, something found between the lines, almost diagonally over Annie Liebovitz photos of Tina Fey and quotes on how to whether economic crisis from Tony Hsieh of Zappos.com. I don’t know what it is until I find it.
Here is what I see now: Return To Simplicity.
No, I am not talking about frugal chic or budget fixes. I am talking about something deeper.
Return to simplicity, in a sense, is about becoming another woman.
We’re being told that it’s time for an inner cleansing, but one that goes beyond closets and the simple self help found in magazine articles.
Right now, a woman can purge her home, mind and soul with no need for explanation. She’s encouraged to throw out chaos, gross indulgences, overly materialistic desires and embrace growth, mental maturity and to fulfill simple wants that enrich her spirit.
She can still live boldly, but via different approach. She should be highly adaptive and embrace change.
She’s redefining herself and taking on a new Vintage Aesthetic:
timeless.feminine. sharing. a bit of black magic. in full bloom. enlightened. glow. return to tradition. delicate. sublime. confident. poised. graceful. sophisticated. = The Modern Woman
It’s powerful and grounding. If a woman reinvents herself in her personal realm, what can she do else where? External relationships, work or business?
